Zervati with its two lake caves is a very friendly cave with easy access. Ideal for training and adaptation to similar conditions of land and underwater environment for cave diving. A small blue-green paradise of vegetation between the houses of the village. The team consisted of Giorgos Petrou. Nassos Zervopoulos. Kypraio Tassos and Gravani Ilias. Very enjoyable and relaxing dives where a small amount of gases is required without getting involved in decompression times.
Diving we find that the underwater spaces in terms of size, volume m3 are different. Otherwise, the basic elements of the lake caves are consistent, such as clarity, temperature (around 14 degrees Celsius), water composition, decoration of stalagmites, stalactites and of course, let's not forget a very sensitive bottom full of sediment and large boulders from the ceiling to it. The first lake cave on the left as we descend has a maximum depth of about 5 meters and a length of 40 meters from its entrance, while the second is deeper with a maximum depth of about 10 meters and a length of about 120 - 130 meters. It goes without saying that due to the temperature, a dry suit or a wet suit for the daring, a 7mm suit and monoshorts on top, is required. Buoyancy must be excellent and the flippers must be high and the movement must be done very correctly. In both caves, regardless of whether they are small, it is necessary to develop a diving mask and to follow all the rules and safety measures, both in terms of safety and procedures, for an ideal dive.
