Enriched Air Nitrox

Part B

Enriched Air nitrox has been one of the most important developments in the field of diving for both amateur and technical diving. Its benefits are many. In Part B we approach in a simple way the basic elements of this gas mixture and all its variations. Like anything, this requires training and certification for its safe use because very easily "medicine becomes medicine".


It is necessary to know precisely:


  • What does Oxygen Enriched mixture mean? It means that we have a mixture of two gases, one of which is Nitrogen and the other is Oxygen. However, Oxygen is more than 21% and above, which is why we call it Enriched compared to the composition of air.

  • What are its advantages and benefits? Less nitrogen absorption, longer O time, less decompression time, better denitrification, less fatigue on repetitive dives, fewer accumulated problems in the future.

  • What requirements are there for our equipment, what differentiates it. Oxygen, because it is flammable, requires that it not come into contact with oils, Hydrocarbons, friction and fire. Bottle cleaning is required and special O-Rings must be placed on our equipment. The mixture must be mixed carefully by a trained person with safety measures.
  • To what depths do they allow us to dive? The more O2 the mixture contains, the shallower it goes, while the poorer it is, the deeper it goes.
  • What percentages of O2 can these mixtures reach? They can reach 99%.
